Youth Worker Job Description and Person Specification

(6-9 hours per week)

About Us: We are a growing Elim Pentecostal church which has been part of the heart of Bath for nearly 100 years. Our church family includes people of all ages and backgrounds, currently consisting of around 50 adults and 15 under 18s. We are passionate about building a strong, faith-filled community and equipping the next generation to thrive in their spiritual journey.

 

We are looking for…
A passionate and creative individual to work with young people and their families, helping them grow in faith, connect with the wider church community, and feel supported in their spiritual journey. This role involves leading, developing, and supporting our youth ministry while providing practical and administrative assistance to ensure the smooth running of our activities. We welcome candidates who are excited to make this role their own, fostering creativity and ownership to shape meaningful and impactful ministry.

 

You will be…
•    A practicing Christian, with an active faith.
•    Passionate to work with teenagers and their families.
•    Excited about the opportunities that exist for evangelism with young people.
•    Comfortable collaborating with others and building strong relationships.
•    Able to work independently.


Key Responsibilities
 

Sundays

  • Resource and co-ordinate the young people’s Sunday Limitless sessions 

  • Ensure young people have opportunities to be actively involved in church services, such as through worship, prayer or sharing testimonies.

 

Weekdays 

  • Develop mid-week ‘contact points’ for youth, for example:

  • Learning about the needs of the young people in the area and ideally work towards setting up a Youth drop-in group.

  • Explore the potential of a Youth Home Group at the Church, leading young people deeper into faith

  • Meet with young people for mentoring/discipleship 

 

In addition, you will be able to…

  • Manage a budget which is agreed at the start of each financial year

  • Schedule volunteers and train and equip where required

  • Handle general administration (organise a rota, arrange team meetings, health and safety awareness, basic food hygiene, first aid, finance) 

  • Keep first aid, food, fire safety, safeguarding and special needs awareness training up to date

Responsible for:    Overseeing the ministry to Young People (11-18)
Contract:    Open-ended contract
Employer:    Bath Elim Church
Annual Holiday:    28 days (FTE)
Contractual Hours:    Part time role 6-9 hours per week to include Sundays
Remuneration:    £12.30 per hour
Closing Date:    5pm on the 31st March 2025
